What are partial dentures?
Partial dentures, as the name suggests, are provided to replace a single tooth or group or segments of missing teeth. Some minor preparation work to the adjoining natural teeth surfaces is normally required. Clasps are used to help retain a partial denture and these can be made from chrome-cobalt alloy or from a plastic tooth-coloured resin for an improved aesthetic appearance.
In more complex cases we can use special attachments that are attached to crowns on the surrounding teeth. These attachments firmly grip the partial denture. Another excellent, although more costly, option is to use implants with special attachments to add stability to a partial denture.
