Small span bridges are used if you are missing more than one tooth in your dental arch. Instead of using the remaining healthy teeth as anchors, as we do with ordinary bridges, we can place implants to support a bridge. You do not necessarily need an implant to replace every missing tooth in a gap. An implant can be placed at either end of the gap, or in the middle of the span, depending on how many teeth are missing, and then a bridge constructed to sit on the implants. Alternatively, we might be able to use an existing tooth at one end as an anchor and an implant at the other to hold a bridge in place. Each case is individual and careful planning is required. We will discuss all options with you and decide how to move forward together.
